How to Play Spider Solitaire
Spider Solitaire is played with two full decks (104 cards) across ten tableau columns. Unlike Klondike, there are no foundation piles — instead, you win by assembling and clearing eight complete King-to-Ace sequences of the same suit.
Setup
The first four columns get six cards each and the remaining six columns get five cards each, with only the top card of every column face up. The other 50 cards sit in the stock, dealt ten at a time — one to each column — whenever you click the stock.
Moving cards
- Any card can be placed on a card one rank higher, regardless of suit — for example a red 6 can sit on a black or red 7.
- Only a run of cards in the same suit and in perfect descending order can be dragged together as a group.
- An empty column accepts any card or valid run — there is no King-only restriction like in Klondike.
- When ten cards in a row of the same suit line up from King down to Ace, they are automatically lifted off the board as a completed sequence.
- You can only deal a new row from the stock when no tableau column is empty.
Choosing a difficulty
One-suit Spider (spades only) is the most forgiving since every card is compatible for a group move. Two-suit adds hearts for extra planning. Four-suit is the traditional, most challenging version — plan carefully before splitting up a matching run.
How do you win Spider Solitaire?
Clear all eight King-to-Ace sequences off the tableau to win the game.
Can I move a run that mixes suits?
You can place a single card of any suit on a valid target, but only a same-suit descending run can move as a group.
Why won't the stock deal a new row?
Spider blocks dealing while any column is empty. Fill every column first, then click the stock again.
Does Spider Solitaire work on mobile?
Yes — the ten columns resize to fit your screen, and cards move with a tap-to-select or a drag.
